Blue’s energy brings truth, loyalty, integrity, wisdom and peace. It is one of the most popular colors, especially with men. Blue is the color of heavens and seas. Human bodies when exposed to the color blue, produce sedative like chemicals which have been shown to induce a state of peace, calm and tranquilly. The color blue also awakens our sense of spirituality.
Each shade of blue is associated with different attributes. Light Blue posses the attributes of softness, health, healing, tranquility and understanding. Pale Blue is said to inspire freedom and creativity. Dark Blue virtues are those of power, integrity and knowledge. Sky blue is known as the universal healer, inspiring love and fidelity. When there is an imbalance of blue one can become rigid, inflexible, emotionally- unstable, too conservative, unforgiving, spiteful, unfaithful and manipulative. Excessive amounts of blue can also make one feel unhappy, depressed and aloof.
Blue is the color of the Vishuddha (5th) Chakra. Physically this chakra governs the throat, thyroid, larynx, mouth, neck and shoulders. Use its energy to increase communication, wisdom, speech, and clarity. Blue aids in giving us tranquility and wisdom. The fifth chakra is the first of the chakras to predominately focus on the spiritual plane and aspects of spirituality.
In Feng Shui we associate the color blue with the water element. It represents healing, skills, knowledge, inspiration, renewal and nobility. Use a gentle blue color in a home office or bathroom. If you want to promote better sleep try incorporating some dark blue accessories into the bedroom. Dark shades of blue stimulate serenity and calmness which are both perfect for inducing sleep. Studies also indicate that children who work under blue-colored (sky and light blue) ceilings perform better.
In advertising blue is used to represent water, the sky (airlines), authority, cleaning and corporate America. Blue’s color energy promotes feelings of trust, expertise, calm and authority. Also note, blue should never be used to advertise food and cooking, because the color blue is a known appetite suppressant.
Wear blue when you want to be more creative. Wearing the color blue is also helpful in situations where mediation, negotiation or diplomacy is needed. Wearing blue sends out energies that increases trust levels and exude the qualities of integrity and authority. However, wearing to much dark blue can make one appear cold and standoffish.
